Vijay V. Upreti, PhD, FCP, is the director of clinical pharmacology, modeling, and simulation in medical sciences at Amgen.
In his current role, Upreti provides leadership to the Clinical Pharmacology Group of the Amgen San Francisco site and leads the development of novel oncology and immuno-oncology assets. Prior to Amgen, Vijay was senior research investigator of clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Princeton, NJ. He has also served as senior pharmacologist of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and as a pharmacometrics doctoral intern in clinical pharmacology, modeling, and simulation at GlaxoSmithKline in King of Prussia, PA.
Vijay is clinically trained as pharmacist and as a new drug development scientist, with a PhD in PK/PD from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy under the mentorship of Natalie D. Eddington, PhD, FCP, FAAPS, dean and professor of the School. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology (JCP) and the Journal Clinical Pharmacokinetics (Clin Pharmacokinet). He is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (FCP), and also serves as a member on the International Consortium for Innovation & Quality in Pharmaceutical Development (IQ) Clinical Pharmacology Leadership Group (CPLG).
Upreti has an affiliate assistant professor appointment with the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, and has served as a guest faculty for the clinical research course of the MS in Regulatory Science program. He also serves as faculty for the "PK/PD of Protein Therapeutics Concepts and Hands-On Modeling and Simulation" course for industry offered by the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy. Upreti has published more than 50 research articles and abstracts in the field of clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics, and is a frequently invited speaker for professional clinical pharmacology societies.
