Julie Caler, PharmD (Resident)

Julie Caler, PharmD, is the Geriatric Pharmacotherapy Resident for the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.  Dr. Caler received her PharmD from the University in May 2006.  She will participate in a variety of practice settings over the course of the year including dementia and medication management clinics at the Baltimore VA, geriatric assessment clinic at Union Memorial, consulting in long term care facilities in Baltimore county and outreach in Baltimore city in conjunction with CARE and Senior Friendly.  Dr. Caler will be completing a research project through the Lamy center to evaluate medication misuse and abuse in the long term care setting.  She will complete elective rotations in geriatric psychiatry, palliative care and political advocacy and policy.  Dr. Caler will continue her collaboration with the Howard County Health Department and University of Maryland’s Substance Abuse studies to provide outreach and conduct research on substance abuse in the elderly in Howard County.
