Michael Brodeur, PharmD,
our first geriatric pharmacotherapy resident, is a registered pharmacist
who completed his Doctor of Pharmacy training at St. Johns University,
Queens, N.Y. in May 2000. In his residency, Michael was exposed
to all facets of geriatrics, including long-term care, subacute
care, and ambulatory care, as well as teaching at the School of
Pharmacy. He also worked with RPS on mail order pharmacy and the
state and national branches of ASCP on legislative issues.
Michael helped
organize the Mid-Atlantic ASCP Conference in August 2000 and served
as a moderator on medication issues in skilled nursing facilities
at the Beacon Institute Long Term Care Conference at Levindale,
Baltimore in September 2000. He also worked with RPS on mail order
pharmacy and the state and national branches of ASCP on legislative
issues. Michael set high goals for his year at the Center including
certification in geriatric pharmacy and conducting research on medication
adherence in the elderly.
