The ElderCare brochures are written
for the purpose of addressing issues such as "Why do I have to take these
medicines?" and "How do I take these medicines?" with the elderly patient and their caregiver.
Dr. Lamy originally developed the
ElderCare brochure series under sponsorship from Parke-Davis Company. In continuing the
work of Dr. Lamy, The Center was recently awarded additional funds by Parke-Davis to
update and revise the entire series. The new brochures cover such topics as choosing a
pharmacy and pharmacist, aging and how it affects medications, home safety issues, and the
very popular pocket-size medication record. You may order brochures or inquire about
customizing brochures to meet your organization's needs by contacting The Lamy Center. We
also plan to make these brochures available through this website by year's end.
Special thanks go to the many individuals who contributed to this new series including:
Madeline Feinberg, Nicole Brandt of The Lamy Center, and Laura Stacey and Eric Brosch of
the University of Maryland Office of Creative Services; Kathy Cordes contributed the artwork. Mike
Frost and Toni Ushkowitz of Parke-Davis secured the funds and coordinated the company's
internal review process.
