Sachin Kamal-Bahl
Sachin Kamal-Bahl is a doctoral
candidate in the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Services
Research at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He has worked
on several projects ranging from prescription drug access issues
of rural seniors to inappropriate drug use among the elderly
Medicare beneficiaries funded by
The Commonwealth Fund, PhRMA and pharmaceutical companies.
He was a Novartis Pre-Doctoral Fellow in Health Economics
and Outcomes Research in 2001-2002.
Since then he has been a Research Fellow funded by the
Research Development Core Pilot Grant under the Claude D. Pepper
Older Americans Independence Center.
His dissertation work “Prevalence, Predictors, and
Consequences of Propoxyphene Use in the Aged” is funded by an
Agency of Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) dissertation
research grant. He is currently
working on projects assessing the impact of tiered-copayment
structures on drug expenditures and medical cost implications of
changes in functional status.
He has presented his work and won awards at several national
meetings such as the Drug Information Association, Academy of
Health Services Research and Health Policy, and International
Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.
