Jalpa Doshi
Jalpa Doshi is a doctoral candidate
in the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research at
the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
She has a bachelor's background in pharmacy, and received
her master's degree in pharmaceutical health services research at
the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
She has gained broad research experience having been a part
of numerous projects funded by the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services, the Assistant Secretary for Planning and
Evaluation in DHHS, The Commonwealth Fund, the Kaiser Family
Foundation, state Medicaid programs, the Food and Drug
Administration and pharmaceutical companies.
She has worked extensively with secondary datasets such as
the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS), Medicaid data, and
commercial claims data. She
has built particular expertise with the MCBS and a newly available
nationally representative dataset on drug administrations for
long-term care facility residents.
She is currently working on a CMS project to assess the
impact of prescription drug coverage on Medicare Part A & B
expenditures and a Commonwealth Fund project assessing costs and
quality of prescription coverage for the community-dwelling
elderly Medicare beneficiaries.
Some of her recently completed projects include analyses of drug
use and expenditure patterns for the disabled Medicare
beneficiaries; drug use by institutionalized Medicare
beneficiaries across different long-term care settings; and trends
in prescription coverage for Medicare beneficiaries.
She has also made presentations at several national
meetings such as the Academy of Health Services Research and
Health Policy, Drug Information Association, International Society
of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and the American
Public Health Association.
