Sheila
Weiss, PhD is an Associate Professor in Pharmacy and Medicine.
Dr. Weiss earned a doctoral degree in Epidemiology at the
Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.
Dr. Weiss received specialty training in Pharmacoepidemiology
and Regulatory Sciences through a postdoctoral fellowship
funded by the Drug Information Association, and later worked
at the Food and Drug Administration, conducting drug safety
studies and evaluating marketed drug products.
In
April 1997, she joined the faculty at the University of Maryland
where she teaches research methods to both graduate and professional
students. Current research areas include pediatric asthma
(Project INHALE and the NASA-Maryland Asthma Project), drug
safety in pregnancy, and she is working with the FDA on monitoring
practices for drugs with known liver toxicity.
