Article I: Name Article II: Purpose B. To increase student awareness of career opportunities in the pharmaceutical sciences C. To improve student awareness of the latest advances and discoveries in the pharmaceutical sciences, and provide educational opportunities for students to learn about all aspects of drug development. D. To provide students in the pharmaceutical sciences with opportunities for professional advancement and leadership development E. To foster participation in outreach
activities that furthers the goals and objectives of AAPS. Any graduate student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy at UMB who is currently a member of the national association, AAPS, will be extended membership upon affiliation. Any student, undergraduate, graduate, or post-doc, on the campus of UMB who is also a member of the national association, AAPS, is eligible to affiliate with UMB-AAPS. Members of student chapters must also be members of AAPS according to AAPS procedures. Graduate students in their first year of study need not be a member of the national association, AAPS, to affiliate with UMB-AAPS. Membership may not be denied to any AAPS member on the basis of gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, creed, handicap, or socio-economic status. Article IV: Dues and Payment At the time of the enactment of this Constitution, no additional dues will be collected. Article V: Officers & Organization A. Officers:

Article VI: Meetings
B. Chapter Meetings: At least one Chapter meeting must be held in each of Fall and Spring terms.
Majority of officers means majority of total Officers. Majority of members means majority of members present, providing that at least 10 members are present. Constitutional Amendments require majority of total membership vote. Total membership shall be assessed at the beginning of each year, either by email announcement or in Chapter Meeting. Article VIII: Amendments Amendment of this constitution shall be made under the circumstance of a majority vote of the full Chapter membership and majority vote of the Executive Committee; without a majority vote of both bodies, this Constitution shall not be amended. Either the Executive Committee or members may suggest amendment. Amendments must be in accordance with national organization, AAPS, laws and by-laws. Article IX: Ratification Draft of this constitution shall be submitted to the Executive Committee. After agreed-upon changes, this constitution shall be posted on the UMB-AAPS website for review of members. A one-month period shall be given to Chapter members to review this constitution and suggest changes. After the one-month period, if no suggestions have been made, this Constitution shall stand until majority vote at the next Chapter meeting has been collected. By-Laws: 1. Officers who miss an inordinate amount of Executive Committee meetings may be asked to resign. Officers who flagrantly shirk their duties may be asked to resign. Officers who abuse club funds shall be asked to resign and membership status shall be revoked indefinitely and notice shall be sent to the national organization, AAPS. Officers who verbally or physically abuse other officers or members shall be asked to resign and notice shall be sent to the national organization, AAPS. Officers may be asked to resign only during meeting of Executive Committee, and only by an Executive Committee member; Faculty Advisor's attendance is not necessary. 2. Members have the right to view the annual report. Members have the right to question leadership decisions. Members with complaints about leadership or organization are required to take up such matter with Chair or Vice-Chair or Faculty Representative. 3. Meetings, both of the Executive Committee and General Chapter meetings, shall be informal. At the request of any member or officer, Robert's Rules of Order may be imposed. At such request, meeting will follow such Rules and, subsequent meetings for that year must be convened under such Rules, unless the majority votes to restore informal procedures; a call for such a vote shall be made by the Secretary at the beginning of each so-convened meeting. A copy of Robert's Rules of Order must be kept by the Chair, Vice-Chair, or Secretary during such convened meeting. Once Robert's Rules have been called, a copy of Robert's Rules must be provided by the member who calls for parliamentary procedure to the Officers. 4. Duties: The duties of the Secretary shall be to compile the general annual report, announce upcoming chapter events and meetings, and keep the chapter and officers posted on the status of chapter business. The duties of the Treasurer shall be to compile the annual financial report, solicit funds from the School of Pharmacy and the UMB Department of Student Affairs, and arrange for payments and reimbursements regarding chapter events. Duties of the Chair and Vice-Chair shall be to run chapter and executive meetings, to serve as contacts for AAPS and the UMB School of Pharmacy Faculty, and to initiate and oversee chapter events. The Faculty Representative must read the completed annual report and suggest changes before its submission to the national organization. The Chair, or Vice-Chair in the absence of the Chair, must submit the annual report to the national organization, AAPS. 5. Officers and members are expected to abide by the procedures of the UMB Department of Student Activities.
