Sisterhood is a core value, one at the root of the creation of the fraternity, and one that can’t be sacrificed for a displaced belief in the strict interpretation of nomenclature. Perhaps Maya Angelou said it best: “I don’t believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers. It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at.”
