The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is one of seven professional schools housed within the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). UMB occupies 71 acres in downtown Baltimore and is located just a short walk from the city’s bustling Inner Harbor, which serves as a center of activity with concerts, water sports and excursions, firework displays, shops, and restaurants.
Living In and Around Baltimore:
Located on Baltimore’s Westside, the School of Pharmacy shares its neighborhood with the University of Maryland BioPark, University of Maryland Medical Center, the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Maryland Proton Treatment Center, the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lexington Market, and Oriole Park at Camden Yards. A quick 45-minute drive to Washington, D.C., our campus enjoys easy access to the nation’s top policymakers and to powerful federal agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
On campus housing is available for students, and includes University Suites at Fayette Square (the campus apartment complex), and Pascault Row, a traditional row house style layout that includes efficiency, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom arrangements. Learn more about available student housing here.

Service is UMB’s lifeblood. The mission of the UMB Community Engagement Center is to leverage UMB’s economic resources and human capital to engage with the community through direct service and systemic change to improve quality of life in West Baltimore and beyond. In addition, many of our student organizations have community service and outreach opportunities.
The School of Pharmacy works with the UMB Center for Global Engagement to raise awareness and foster a global experience by encouraging international faculty collaborations and promoting experiential learning opportunities for students. Our student pharmacists have completed clinical rotations and projects in countries such as Australia, Egypt, India, Italy, Peru, Thailand, South Korea, Costa Rico, Rwanda, Gambia, and Zambia.
Health profession students travel to Thailand to learn more about how its clinicians have used interprofessional education to move students beyond the classroom and into the practice setting.Read the Full Story
