Prospective students may benefit from reviewing the following responses to frequently asked questions about the PharmTechX Program.

How much does the program cost?

The program is $40 per credit hour. The Certificate I program requires 19.5 credit hours, for a total certificate cost of $780.

Is financial aid available?

Unfortunately, financial aid is not available for the PharmTechX Program. However, we are happy to speak with the human resources department at your place of employment to discuss opportunities for tuition reimbursement.

Is there a payment plan available?

There is a pay-as-you-go option available. For example, the Certificate I program is broken down into three segments: Segment A (6 credit hours), Segment B (8 credit hours), and Segment C (5.5 credit hours), with the option to purchase each segment individually.

What is the start date of each certificate?

The certificate is based on a rolling admission process. Once you purchase the certificate, you are immediately enrolled in the course and can begin the program.

How long does it take to complete the certificate?

You are able to complete the certificate at your own pace. We estimate that students require a minimum of two to three months to complete the certificate, though you may work your way through the program at a faster or slower pace, depending on your schedule. However, in order to receive continuing education (CE) credit, the course must be completed within two years.

I live out of state. Are there live sessions that I must attend?

There are no live sessions; all of the certificates are available entirely online.

What do I receive upon completion of the certificate program?

At the end of the certificate you will receive the corresponding number of ACPE accredited continuing education hours, as well as a certificate of completion.

What prerequisites are required to enroll in the program?

This program is designed for pharmacy technicians who have received their CPhT and/or have been in practice for at least three years.

I am interested in becoming a pharmacy technician. Will this program help me begin my career as a pharmacy technician?

The PharmTechX Program is not an entry level pharmacy technician training program. The program builds upon the knowledge that pharmacy technicians have previously acquired from their experience working in a pharmacy. For a list of entry level programs, please visit the ASHP website.

I am interested in the program, but have not been in practice for three years. Am I still able to enroll?

We want every pharmacy technician who enrolls in the program to be successful, and while we do recommend that you have at least three years of experience, you are able to enroll with less experience by submitting a letter of recommendation from a pharmacist that you work with indicating that you would be a good candidate for this program.
