Headshot of Courtney WittstadtAbout Courtney:

Growing up with an autistic brother, Courtney always had an interest in health care. After graduating from Towson University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in biology, she spent a few years working as a research assistant at a contract research organization. There she spent much time assisting with several clinical trials focused on providing preexposure prophylaxis to HIV-negative adolescents.

She then pivoted to working as an industrial hygienist, where she sampled job sites for environmental exposures. After earning her master's degree in public health from George Washington University in 2018, she transitioned to working as a program manager on several exposure science studies, focusing on how the environment impacts human health.

Realizing that she desired a more direct role in health care during the COVID-19 pandemic, Courtney decided to continue her education and is currently pursuing her PharmD degree. She is a second-year pharmacy student at the University of Maryland and works under Hillary Edwards's supervision as a graduate research assistant. She currently assists Joe Howarth with the PATIENTS Professors Academy. In addition, she is involved in the University of Maryland Student Government and serves as the Class of 2025 President.

Courtney enjoys reading, paddle boarding, and spending free time with her husband and dog.
