The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is working to expand the role of pharmacists and their impact on pharmacy education, research, and patient care.

As a leader in pharmacy practice, the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy improves the health of people through innovation, collaboration, and advocacy.

Faculty in the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research provide specialized pharmacy services at a wide range of locations, including outpatient clinics, hospital units, mental health institutions, skilled nursing care facilities, community pharmacies, and academic health science centers. These practitioners have pioneered new roles for pharmacists in advanced clinical practice by supporting and teaching patients, students, residents, and health care practitioners regarding the best use of medicines.

Innovative programs developed at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, such as the Maryland P3 (Patients, Pharmacists Partnerships) program, have taken root and grown throughout the state because they work. These programs support and empower patients while improving clinical outcomes, decreasing costs, and enhancing continuity of care in the health systems in which we operate.
