Update on the Maryland MPJE

Maryland pharmacist licensure applicants

Starting on June 1, 2026, the Maryland Board of Pharmacy began allowing pharmacist licensure applicants to choose whether to take either the Uniform Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (UMPJE) or the state MPJE as part of licensure requirements.

If the UMPJE is selected, pharmacist licensure applicants are also required to take a free Maryland-specific module similar in design to a CE program, consisting of recorded materials and a competency assessment. The module includes a 2-hour webinar and a no-fail test.

Applicants may register for the Maryland module. The Maryland module may be completed before or after the UMPJE. Passing scores for the Maryland module are reported to the Board on a weekly basis.
