Alexandra Wallem is a licensed pharmacist and a postdoctoral health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) fellow in the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

About Dr. Wallem:

Alexandra Wallem, PharmD, MSDr. Wallem is a recent graduate from the University of Kentucky. Her passion for pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes is rooted in her interest in public health and policy. This interest was sparked during her second year of pharmacy school, when she developed board-approved protocols for emergency contraception allowing pharmacists to improve access to care in rural areas. Additionally, Dr. Wallem's research concentration for her master’s degree investigated medication use in older adults with dementia.

At the School of Pharmacy, Alex currently supports Dr. Linda Wastila and her team in research involving older adults and antipsychotic overuse in long-term care facilities. Additionally, she is conducting research investigating vaccination relevance during the COVID-19 pandemic and ADHD medication utilization. Her research interests include medication utilization in older adults, oncology, migraine, and public policy.
