The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy prepares future generations of pharmacists with the knowledge and skills needed to be essential contributors to a dynamic health care arena.

Both in-state and out-of-state applicants are eligible for additional financial aid and scholarships to attend the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.

PharmD Application Process (Fall 2024)

STEPS TO APPLY:

  1. Apply now through PharmCAS!
    1. November 1: Priority deadline to submit PharmCAS application
    2. May 1, 2024: Final deadline to submit PharmCAS application
  2. Complete the supplemental application
  3. Plan to have all prerequisite coursework completed by Aug. 9, 2024. Sixty-five (65) credits are required. (Learn more about international coursework.)
  4. Get two (2) letters of recommendation from professional or academic references submitted.
  5. Take part in an admissions interview. Interviews and admissions offers are on a rolling basis.
  6. Meet technical standards.

The items listed below are not required; however, they are suggested for prospective students who wish to strengthen their applications. Please include these items in your PharmCAS application if applicable.

  • Work experience
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Leadership and/or service activities
  • One year or more of full-time coursework
  • Upper-level science coursework
  • Additional letter of recommendation
  • Apply early for priority review. Applications are reviewed and interviews are held on a rolling basis. Priority scholarships available.
  • Submit a FAFSA: Scholarship funds are available and disbursed through federal aid.
  • Attend an on campus or virtual event learn more about admissions and our School of Pharmacy.
  • Book an appointment with an admissions counselor if you have questions.

3:4 Educational Agreements are in place with several local universities to allow students to complete both their bachelor's degree and PharmD degree in just seven years.

International applicants are anyone who will need to obtain a U.S. visa based on attendance at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy to maintain legal status. Please review additional requirements for international applicants.

International pharmacists do not apply through PharmCAS. International pharmacists are those individuals who currently live in the United States and have received an undergraduate degree in and their pharmacy license from a recognized school of pharmacy outside of the U.S., the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Transfer students do not apply through PharmCAS. Transfer students are applicants currently attending another professional pharmacy school who have a valid reason for requesting a transfer. Transfer students will be placed in the first year of the PharmD program.

Military and Veteran Applicants are active, full-time members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Marines are eligible for in-state tuition if stationed in the state of Maryland, and with the appropriate documentation.
