Antimicrobial Stewardship Educational Activities:

The Peter Lamy Center on Drug Therapy and Aging offers a number of targeted educational interventions and support for long-term care providers in the state of Maryland on the topic of antimicrobial stewardship.

These live and online clinical programs are designed to close knowledge gaps for long-term care pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, and other health care professionals.

Antimicrobial Stewardship in Long-Term Care Facilities Kick-Off Summit Held Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, the Antimicrobial Stewardship in Long-Term Care Facilities Kick-Off Summit was attended by pharmacists, physicians, and nurses from across the state of Maryland. Presentations delivered during the summit included:

Antibiotic Stewardship in Nursing Homes: How You Can Prevent Antibiotic Resistance Nursing home staff, residents, and families can reduce antibiotic resistance by prescribing or using antibiotics only when they are needed. This short video produced by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) provides information on when antibiotics are needed and not needed, and how inappropriate antibiotic use can harm patients.
