As a component of the fellowship application process, all students will be evaluated by the Executive Committee composed of AstraZeneca and University of Maryland School of Pharmacy staff, and are required to meet the following requirements.

PharmD Fellowship Requirements
Location: Boston (Cambridge), MA or Gaithersburg, MD
- Applicant is currently in 4th year of pharmacy school or has graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy by Spring 2026. Fellowship starts the first week of July 2026. Applicants other than University of Maryland students may apply.
- Applicant must be eligible to work in the USA and be willing to relocate/be on-site in the Boston (Cambridge), MA or Gaithersburg, MD office.
- Applicant has demonstrated strong interest in clinical research and has conducted research in relevant scientific fields such as oncology (preferred), biology/chemistry, toxicology, or pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics.
- Applicant demonstrates leadership skills as well as sufficient communication (written and oral) skills as per interview requirements or presentation of prior research.
PhD Fellowship Requirements
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
- Applicant will have completed their post-doctoral training by Spring 2026 in a scientific field. Fellowship starts the first week of July 2026. Applicants other than University of Maryland fellows may apply.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the USA and be willing to relocate/be on-site in the Gaithersburg, MD office.
- Applicant has demonstrated strong interest in clinical research and has conducted research in relevant scientific fields such as oncology (preferred), biology/chemistry, toxicology, or pharmaceutics/pharmacodynamics.
- Applicant demonstrates leadership skills as well as sufficient communication (written and oral) skills as per prior curriculum requirements or presentation of prior research.
Application Process
Students will be evaluated by the Executive Committee composed of AstraZeneca and University of Maryland School of Pharmacy staff, and are required to submit the following documents:
- The Fellowship Application Form including a one-page statement explaining career goals, research experiences, and interest in clinical research.
- A curriculum vitae that highlights clinical, research, and work experience.
- Submit two professional letters of recommendation addressed to Oday Hamid, PharmD (either prior employer and/or faculty; for PhD applicants – former PhD advisor and current post-doctoral PI required) as instructed on the Fellowship Application Form.
- A presentation is expected of candidates during the interview process.
Application Deadlines
- PharmD submission deadline is Nov. 26, 2025.
- PhD submission deadline is Jan. 16, 2026.
- Submit all required documents as instructed on the Fellowship Application Form.
