Over the past four years, Pharmaceutical Research Computing (PRC) has invited individuals with an interest in data analysis services to submit proposals for a chance to receive pilot project funding.

Awardees receive up to $15,000 in project funding to be used toward the purchase of any PRC service. Services include: data acquisition, warehousing, data cleaning, data set creation, statistical analysis, project coordination, and programming assistance.

Josh Kazman, MS, and Patricia Deuster, PhD, MPH

Project Title: What are the dynamics of thermoregulatory responses to exercise in the heat?

Amount: $15,000

Joey Mattingly, PharmD, MBA

Project Title: Development of a viral hepatitis cohort in a large commercially insured population to investigate co-infection with human immunodeficiency virus and other major comorbidities

Amount: $15,000

Accomplishments:

  • Identified a cohort of over 60,000 Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infected individuals in a large commercial database and nearly 2,000 HCV-HIV co-infected individuals.
  • Analysis that has been submitted to JMCP (submitted 8/13, under review)

Future Goals:

  • Dr. Mattingly would like to continue working with PRC on existing data sets and to help identifying new data sets we may be able to obtain to answer the research questions important to improving the cost and quality of care in the United States.
  • Dr. Mattingly will be using data housed with PRC to support part of his dissertation.
