You Are Known

As the sole resident in the program, you receive greater access to mentorship and individualized support.

Our residents work very closely with preceptors and faculty, which allows for real-time feedback, stronger mentorship relationships, and more tailored development.

You Gain Autonomy Through Intentional Development

We prioritize how residents grow, not just what they’re exposed to.

Because of our structure, residents work closely with preceptors, receive consistent feedback, and gradually take on more responsibility throughout the year to achieve progressive autonomy. By the end, they're functioning independently and are well-prepared for clinical, academic, or research-focused roles.

Oncology pharmacists at UMSOP and UMGCCC are fully integrated members of both inpatient rounding teams and ambulatory oncology clinics through an extensive CPA that enables top-of-licensure practice, and residents train within that same integrated clinical model.

You Lead and Teach

Through our unique level of academic integration at the UMSOP, our residents develop not only as clinicians, but also as educators through mentorship across clinical and academic fields of practice.

Because of our integration with the UMSOP, residents are immersed in an academic environment where teaching, precepting, and research are part of their longitudinal development—not add-ons.

You Contribute to Research

Research at UMSOP/UMGCCC is a collaborative, mentored experience where residents:

• Collaborate closely with faculty to design and implement projects
• Conduct meaningful data analysis and dissemination
• Present findings at regional or national meetings
• Contribute to practice evolution based on findings

Our goal is to develop pharmacists who are not only consumers of evidence, but contributors to it.
